Abrasion resistance (Taber abrader test)
Weight loss at 200 cycles : 20mg (CS 17 / Wheels 1000 gr loading)
Surface preparation
New concrete must be cured for 28 days and have a moisture content
of less than 5% before laying with RIPOBOND 4915 . Substrate
must have a minimum, compressive strength of 25 N/mm² and
minimum pull off strength of 1.5 N/mm².
Substrate should be fine - gripping and solid, free from loose and
friable particles, surface laitance, dust, oil, grease, previous coatings.
Concrete substrate should be prepared by a suitable sand - blasting technique using either a captive, vacuum blasting machine or similar mechanical means.
Small areas where oil or grease persist should be treated with
chemical degreaser.
Large areas of such contamination must be removed by flame
cleaning All dust and other debris from the preparation process must
be removed prior to continuing with the work.
Prepared surfaces should be primed with POLYFILLER PR 20
(Solventless Epoxy Primer) prior to the application of RIPOBOND 4915
Mixing
RIPOBOND 4915  is supplied in pre-weighed packs ready to use on
site. Mix the base (A) and hardener (B) components until an even
colour and consistency is achieved.
The entire contents of the filler (C) component should then be added
and continue mixing for 3 to 4 minutes.
The use of part packs and mixing by hand must not be permitted.
Application methods
The primer should be allowed to cure until it becomes ″tack-free″ before applying the epoxy resin topping.
Once mixed, the RIPOBOND 4915  must be used at once. It shall be poured on to the primed surfaces and spread to the required thickness. Immediately. The material should be rolled with a spiked nylon roller. The rolling should be carried out using a back and forth technique along the same path. Subsequent paths should overlap the first by 50%. Rolling helps remove any slight trowel marks and aids air release.
15 minutes later. If necessary, the material should be rolled again.
In case of very rough or uneven floor surfaces; it is recommended to
level up the surface with POLYFILLER PR 20 as a scrape coat by adding quarts sand (0.1 – 0.3mm) using a flat steel trowel.
K3, a special graded filler must be sprinkled at once on to the already applied coating. After removal of excess filler the next day, RIPOBOND 4915 (in a chosen colour) should then be applied.
This method (sandwich system) could also be used where higher film thickness of 3 mm or over is required.
Application temperature
Do not apply when temperatures are below 10°C or at relative
humidity above 75 %. Surface temperature should be min. 3°C above the dew point. Laying is best carried out between 1
Pot life
At 20°C, 30 minutes. Higher temperatures shorten pot life.
Waiting times between coats
18 - 24 hours maximum when laying over primer. If this is not possible,
it is recommended to blind the freshly applied primer with K3 filler.
Drying time (At 20°C)
Light traffic 48 hours. Full serviceability, in 7 days.
Cleaning
Tools and equipment should be cleaned in SPECIAL TINER 5.05 immediately after use
